Meet Kev Cannon
Kev is our Head of beverage. He's been with Press Up for the past five years and has risen through the ranks to his current position of head of beverage. In this role, Kev is responsible for the day to day running of the beverage function.
Each day is different and exciting and can range from stock takes and checks, on the ground training with staff, meeting new and existing suppliers or working on the latest cocktail concept with venue bar managers. Kev gets to work with some very exciting brands and is regularly takes teams of bartenders to brand homes/distilleries/breweries to learn more about the products they are selling.
One of Kev's favourite projects he's worked on was the professional bartender program which involved training five bartenders to a professional standard including cocktail training, WSET (wine) certificate and in-depth spirit training.
Kev started his Press Up journey in 2017 as a supervisor in Roberta's. From there he moved onto bar manager and eventually he gained responsibility for managing the whole Dollard Complex. After that, Kev took on the huge responsibility of running the Liquor Rooms and maintained that legacy of service until Covid closed the industry down. During Covid, he moved onto the Beverage operations team and helped out across the group. After the lifting of restrictions Kev briefly had a stint as the building manager for Workmans Club which included responsibility for Workmans, Bison, Annes and The Workmans Cellar. Kev began his current role of Head of Beverage with Press Up in Nov 2021.
Kev's advice to any aspiring bartender is to ask as many questions as possible, listen intently and write things down. A pen is your best friend!
