Glasson Golf Club/ Glasson Lakehouse Hotel have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Golf Course Superintendent to lead in maintenance of the golf course and surrounding areas. The role will be based at Glasson Golf Club/ Glasson Lakehouse, Athlone, Co Westmeath, Ireland. This beautiful 18-hole course was designed By Christy O Connor Jnr in 1993 to blend with its stunning surroundings. During 2020 an extensive renovation to the course and grounds took place and was overseen by Golf Designer David Jones and contractors GolfLink Evolve headed up by Esie O Mahony.
Key Responsibilities of the Golf Course Superintendent / Estate Manager:
- Prepares and maintains the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans.
- Plans, organises, and directs the maintenance of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers & gardens.
- Supervises the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants
- Manages department members. Drives and motivates the greenkeepers / groundkeepers to deliver consistent manicured grounds and golf course. Allocate work rotas on a weekly / Monthly basis
- Ensures that maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
- Procures supplies and materials within budgetary limitations.
- Keeps record of annual maintenance activities and costs. Prepares reports.
- Implements sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred suppliers, when possible.
- Reconciles and provides timely coding of all invoices, payroll and other required documents.
- Coordinates leaf removal around the property
- Ensures proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemical/fertilizers used on the course.
- Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new assistant. Develops ongoing training programs.
- Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
- Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations.
- The Golf Course Superintendent reports to the Director of Golf. Excellent Communication skills required. Works closely with, external advisor, and coordinates with the Director of Golf on ongoing activity and any issues related to golf course maintenance.
Qualifications
• Fully Qualified Greenkeeper
• Preferred Experience in the role of Golf Course Superintendent, Head Greenkeeper role or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent role
